Originally, AAME was working in the specialties of manufacturing, marine, facilities and transportation. We soon grew into all areas of maintenance because they have more in common than not. For example, we found that personnel in the marine industry had the same in common with all other specialties. An elevator is comprised of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems. All of these systems are found throughout the maintenance arena. Though there are a specialty requirements with specific machinery, the need for a group specialty (manufacturing, marine, facilities, transportation, power generation, patroleum, etc.) greatly limits the employer’s pool of qualified applicants. Maintenance philosophy and functional requirements that extend service life are the same regardless of application.
AAME’s focus is for maintenance to be fully understood and performed at the functional levels through management. With an AAME certification comes assurance the personnel and businesses have a thorough understanding of proper maintenance that will produce substantial savings in operating and administrative costs. Along with the requirement of total maintenance understanding, AAME requires a verification of the indivudal's abilities in their chosen specilities (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, etc).
Companies with no functioning maintenance program cost as much as three to seven times more than their counterparts who take maintenance seriously.
